HELMUT NEWTON @ GRAND PALAIS

by RAFAEL CARVALHO

The renowned Grand Palais will host from March 24 to June 17 the exhibit HELMUT NEWTON. The
Austrian photographer lived in Paris for 14 years of his life, era of his famous collaborations with
Vogue, and this will be the first retrospective of his work in France after his death. Featuring more
than two hundred pieces – including huge enlargements of original works, polaroids and impressions
supervised by the artist himself – the display will bring among its characters some of the most
iconic women of our time, such as Catherine Deneuve, Liz Taylor and Kate Moss. The whole thing
was conceived and curated by his partner, June Newton, who also directed the documentary movie
Helmut by June, to be projected during the expo. Among eroticism, sophistication and glamour, this is
a precious insight into the universe and career of probably the most influential fashion photographer
of 20th century.
